Other Multibeam Related Links

The following are some additional links for those interested in Multibeam Bathymetric Sonar System use and technology. Not a complete list, just a few sites that may prove useful:

MB-System is a collection of public-domain, UNIX-based software for the analysis, processing, and display of multibeam bathymetric and amplitude data, from a wide-variety of sonar systems.
Information about the WHOI research fleet (scheduling, specifications, equipment, etc.) can be obtained from the WHOI Marine Operations Department.
Data contained in the WHOI MultiBeam Archive was generated using SeaBeam 2100 series multibeam bathymetric sonar systems, manufactured by L-3 SeaBeam Instruments, of East Walpole, Massachusetts.
The National Geophysical Data Center, part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, maintains extensive holdings of multibeam data. Note that all WHOI data older than two years is submitted to NGDC for permanent archiving and public dissemination.
The Marine Geoscience Data Management System, based at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, maintains a global repository of multibeam bathymetry data collected by the NSF Ridge 2000, MARGINS, and U.S. Antarctic programs, as well as the original NSF RIDGE Multibeam Bathymetry Synthesis project.
